چکیده

Let G be a series-parallel graph with integer edge weights. A p-coloring of G is a mapping of vertices of G into Zp (ring of integers modulo p) so that the distance between colors of adjacent vertices u and v is at least the weight of the edge uv. We describe a quadratic time p-coloring algorithm where p is either twice the maximum edge weight or the largest possible sum of three weights of edges lying on a common cycle.

Fractional, Circular, and Defective Coloring of Series-Parallel Graphs

In this note we consider colorings of series-parallel graphs. Specifically, we provide bounds on their fractional and circular chromatic numbers and the defective version of these parameters. The main result is that the fractional chromatic number of any series-parallel graph of odd girth k is exactly 2k/(k − 1).

Acyclically 3-Colorable Planar Graphs

In this paper we study the planar graphs that admit an acyclic 3-coloring. We show that testing acyclic 3-colorability is NP-hard, even for planar graphs of maximum degree 4, and we show that there exist infinite classes of cubic planar graphs that are not acyclically 3-colorable. Further, we show that every planar graph has a subdivision with one vertex per edge that admits an acyclic 3-colori...

Defective circular coloring

The concept of a defective circular coloring is introduced, and results shown for planar, series-parallel, and outerplanar graphs. Numerous problems are also stated.

A Linear Algorithm for Edge-Coloring Series-Parallel Multigraphs

Many combinatorial problems can be efficiently solved for series]parallel multigraphs. However, the edge-coloring problem of finding the minimum number of colors required for edge-coloring given graphs is one of a few well-known combinatorial problems for which no efficient algorithms have been obtained for series]parallel multigraphs. This paper gives a linear algorithm for the problem on seri...

List Total Colorings of Series-Parallel Graphs

A total coloring of a graph G is a coloring of all elements of G, i.e., vertices and edges, in such a way that no two adjacent or incident elements receive the same color. Let L(x) be a set of colors assigned to each element x of G. Then a list total coloring of G is a total coloring such that each element x receives a color contained in L(x). The list total coloring problem asks whether G has ...
